An Orchestral Visit – Friday 9th October 2026

This afternoon. Y1-6 enjoyed a fantastic assembly by some special visitors, Dr Lee and pupils from King Edward’s School, who played various musical instruments.    They brought a cello, saxophone and an oboe.  Staff and pupils alike were amazed at the first piece composed by  Johann Sebastian Bach, played perfectly on the cello.   Seeing the awe in the faces of some of the children was particularly heart warming.  The KES pupils explained the differences between the instruments and demonstrated how they could change the well known piece of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, playing it higher and then changing the mood to a sad version.   The children were fascinated and asked lots of really great questions to understand more about the instruments which showed their engagement.    Dr Lee than asked his pupils at short notice to play a piece together.  They were only given a minute to plan what to do before performing to us all.  There was no chance for a rehearsal! They did incredibly well as they have only just begun this academic school year.  We could not tell it was their first performance out at a school!   They truly inspired everyone one at Bells Farm.
