Update: Bubble Closure: Reception / Year 1

Update from Mrs Butterworth – read the full letter here.

As you know, due to a member of staff who works in the After School Club and is a classroom support assistant for Reception and Year 1, the two classes above have had to be closed. Additionally, the children who attended after school club on these days will have to remain at home.

Public Health latest guidance is that anyone who came into close contact with a positive case must isolate for 14 days after the last day of contact with the person.

Public Health are clear that we must count back 2 days from the onset of symptoms to establish who should isolate, as this is considered the time period in which the virus could have been passed on. The member of staff first got symptoms on Saturday 26th September. Therefore anyone in close contact with her on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th September will unfortunately have to isolate.

As Reception class were in contact with the member of staff on 24th September, they are required to isolate for the 14 days after this date. This means that their return to school will be: Friday 9th October. This will also apply to any child who was in After School club on 24th September.
For Year 1, the last date of contact was 25th September. Therefore, their 14 day isolation would take them to Saturday 9th October and so they would return to school on Monday 11th October.

Please note that this differs from the original message sent last night, as we have to count the day after contact as the first day of isolation.

The guidance is clear on siblings of children who have to isolate. Siblings must still attend school. Whilst I know that this makes life potentially difficult for the next two weeks, this is the expectation. Should this be difficult, for example if you are the sole adult in the household, then please email me and I will respond as soon as possible respond and definitely within the hour.

We will be in touch regarding work set after these packs have been used, and work will be available online. You may also choose to use the resources which we have already put on the website on the home learning site. This will apply to children who attended After School Club on the dates above, whose classes have not closed.

So for Reception class, Mrs Hill will be in available to respond to you. The email address to be used for this class is: reception@bellsfrm.bham.sch.uk

For Year 1 class, Miss Coghlan will be available to respond to you. The email address to be used is: year1@bellsfrm.bham.sch.uk

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. Please continue to check for any further communications over the next few days.

Kind regards,

Barbara Butterworth
