Character Competition

As part of book week we had a competition to challenge our creativity! The challenge was to make a character from a cylindrical tube.

The rules:

  • The design should be created using cardboard tubes whilst in their original cylindrical shape – that’s the challenge!
  • The tubes cannot be wrapped in paper but it is acceptable to stick things on to create your design.
  • The design should represent your favourite book character or book.
  • Any size cardboard tube is acceptable e.g. kitchen roll tube, foil tube, wrapping paper tube.
  • Any medium can be used to achieve your design e.g. felt tip, ink, paint, collage.
  • The children should bring their entries into school by Friday 4th March and the winners will be announced during the assembly for the children.

Here are the entries from each class:

It was so difficult to pick winners because the standard was so high. In the end, Miss Williams chose these entries as runner-ups:

Well done to Tyler, Lexi, Esmee, Poppy, Ollie, Debra, Callum, Amelia, Daisy, Harry and Leximai. They all won a bookmark.

Eventually, Miss Williams announced the winners. The three special winners chose a brand new book as their prize.

The Reception winner was Joseph for his wonderful Gruffalo creation.

The winner from Y1, 2, 3 was Finlay for his imaginative Lorax.

The winner from Y4, 5, 6 was Havana for her appropriately timed Lord Ted entry.

Well done everyone who took part!
