A letter has gone out to parents to make you aware of a website called Movie Star Planet and a few e-Safety concerns behind it. The website is also available as an app on the iPads and other tablets.

What is Movie Star Planet?
Movie Star Planet is a social online universe where each player is a movie star. Movie Star Planet aims to provide children aged between 8 and 15 years.

Can it be accessed in school?
No. This website is blocked from all iPads and school computers.

How does Movie Star Planet work?
The movie star characters earn Fame and StarCoins (the currency of Movie Star Planet) when other users watch their movies. StarCoins can be used to buy costumes, animations, backdrops for movies, and much more. By playing and interacting with friends and by participating in creative competitions, players move up in the Movie Star Planet world.

What do parents need to watch out for?
• Chatting to strangers
• Giving abuse to, or receiving abuse from, other children
• Purchasing costumes and other extras

If you know your child is using Movie Star Planet, please ensure you know exactly who they are chatting to. There are several children who are using this website outside of school and we are making children aware of the risks. We do not recommend the use of this website and would urge you to encourage them to use more educational websites.

If you need any further information about this, please speak to your child’s class teacher or our e-Safety co-ordinator Mr Baddhan.
