Year 5 and 6 boys narrowly miss out

We took part in the Kings Norton District Year 5 and 6 Boys 7-a-side football tournament on Monday 21st September 2015 at St Laurence Junior School. We played 3 games in total. After a superb opening goal from Jacy we lost our first game against Northfield Manor 2–1. The next game against St Mary’s we won 4 – 1. In our last game against St Laurence we won 1–0.

To progress to the next stage of the competition we needed to finish in the top 2 teams. In the end 3 teams, including us, finished on 7 points. As a result we then needed to compare goal difference, which again left the top three teams equal. Finally we compared goals scored for each team and again Bells Farm and Northfield Manor were completely level in 2nd place.

The only way to separate Bells Farm from Northfield Manor was to look at the result of the game played between us and Northfield Manor. Therefore Northfield Manor qualified to go through into the next round. We played extremely well as a team winning 2 out of our 3 games. We so narrowly missed progressing to the finals, however our performance was very impressive and we are looking forward to competing in future competitions. Kai was given a special mention by the tournament organiser for showing exceptional sportsmanship and spirit throughout the competition. Mr Gill is proud of our achievements and feels this is a very promising start to the season.
